September 2025 AFPHS Training – Understanding the Importance of Including the Disability Community in Age-Friendly Efforts

Zoom September 18, 2025 @ 3:00 pm ET

Understanding and addressing the intersections between aging and disability policies has become increasingly important as health departments and public health organizations broaden their approaches to supporting healthy aging. With approximately one in four people aging with a disability, and older adults representing the largest proportion of individuals with disabilities, innovative and collaborative strategies are essential. The September AFPHS training will focus on the intersections between ageism and ableism, and the importance of including the disability community in age-friendly efforts.

The speaker for this training is Alison Barkoff. She is the Harold and Jane Hirsh Associate Professor of Health Law and Policy at the Milken Institute School of Public Health at the George Washington University.
